Douglas County Jail Inmate Search & Roster 2026

Douglas County, Colorado · Custody and family action guide

Douglas County Booking Lookup, Jail Roster, Bond, Calls and Video Visits

A Douglas County inmate search should do more than display a name. Families usually need to know whether the person is still in custody, which identifier belongs on mail, whether every bond can be paid, how calls are funded, and why an expected release may still be delayed.

This guide explains the Sheriff’s current Castle Rock procedures in one place. Use the county inquiry only for the live roster result; the sections below show how to verify it and complete the next action correctly.

Verify before taking action: A jail charge is an allegation, not proof of guilt. Match the name with the birth date, Global ID, booking number, arrest date or court case before sending funds, discussing the case publicly or arranging transportation.

Prepare before searching

Details that make the inmate search faster and safer

Full legal first and last name
Maiden, former or hyphenated surname
Date of birth or approximate age
Approximate arrest date and time
Arresting police or sheriff agency
Global ID, booking or case number if known
Douglas County identifier rule: personal mail requires the inmate’s six- or seven-digit Global ID. Legal mail and money orders sent directly to the Castle Rock jail require the booking number. Copy both numbers when the roster displays them.

Official roster workflow

How to search the Douglas County inmate inquiry

Open the Sheriff’s live inquiry Use the official Douglas County system rather than a copied booking or mugshot page that may remain online after release.
Enter the last name first Begin with the legal surname and leave unnecessary fields blank. A broader first search reduces the chance that one incorrect detail hides the record.
Add the first name only when needed Narrow a long result list one field at a time rather than entering every known detail together.
Try alternate name formats Check maiden names, suffixes, hyphens, spaces, compound surnames and common spelling differences.
Open the likely match Compare the date of birth, booking date, Global ID, booking number, charges, bond and custody status.
Save every case and identifier One arrest may involve multiple cases or bonds. Record the Global ID, booking number and court case numbers separately.
Call before paying or traveling Contact Booking at 303-660-7550 when the arrest is recent, release is pending or an outside agency may control the next step.

How to understand the Douglas County jail roster result

Custody fields explained in practical terms
Field What it means Correct next action
Global ID A person-level identifier used by Douglas County jail systems. Use the six- or seven-digit number on personal mail and when matching communication accounts.
Booking number The identifier for the current or listed jail admission. Use it for legal mail, money orders, bond questions and formal jail-record requests.
Booking date When the person entered the Douglas County booking process. Compare it with the known arrest date and distinguish the current stay from an older booking.
Charge An allegation associated with an arrest or court case. Use the court case number to check later hearings, amendments and outcomes.
Bond amount The amount currently set for one listed case. Check every case and hold before paying; one bond may not clear the entire booking.
No bond or zero bond Money cannot currently secure release for that matter. Check the next court appearance and ask whether a judge or outside agency controls the hold.
Housing or classification The current assignment based on safety, behavior, medical and operational needs. Do not assume fixed telephone or tablet availability; access changes by housing and operations.
Released or transferred The person may have left local custody or moved to another authority. Call Booking for confirmation; transport details may be restricted for security reasons.
Correct-person test: match at least two meaningful details, such as name plus date of birth, name plus Global ID, or name plus court case number.
Search troubleshooting

No inmate record found? Check these possibilities in order

The arrest was very recent Interviewing, paperwork, photographs, fingerprints, DNA collection and medical screening can take several hours.
The name is recorded differently Retry the surname alone, then test a maiden name, suffix, hyphen variation or alternate spelling.
Another agency made the arrest A municipal, state, neighboring-county or federal agency may control the custody location.
The person bonded or was released A current-custody inquiry may no longer display a person after release processing.
An outside hold caused a transfer Another jurisdiction may take custody after the local case or bond is resolved.
The court case exists without current custody Use the Colorado Judicial docket because an active criminal case does not automatically mean the person remains jailed.
Useful telephone script “I am trying to confirm whether [full legal name], date of birth [date], is currently in Douglas County custody. The arrest may have occurred on [date] through [agency]. I have [Global ID, booking number or case number]. Can you confirm current custody, release or the receiving agency?”

What happens after someone arrives at Douglas County Jail?

Arrival at the Justice Center Adult arrestees are processed at the Douglas County detention facility at 4000 Justice Way in Castle Rock.
Identification and booking work Deputies complete arrest paperwork, photographs, fingerprints and other required identification procedures.
Limited initial calls During booking, the person may receive limited opportunities to contact an attorney, family member, friend or bondsman.
Medical and classification screening A medical assessment and safety classification help determine appropriate care and housing.
Bond review or housing placement The person may post an available bond or move into housing while awaiting court action.
Release or transfer The person may be released locally or transferred when another agency has a warrant, sentence or custody hold.
Cash at booking: U.S. currency in the person’s possession is placed in an inmate account. Remaining account funds are returned at release using the jail’s approved refund method.

Douglas County bond types, payment methods and release checks

Bonds may be posted at the Sheriff’s Office 24 hours a day. Accepted routes include cash, money order and qualifying credit or debit transactions. Online and telephone payments are available through Access Corrections.

Common bond types shown in Douglas County
Bond type What is required Important consequence
Personal recognizance The defendant signs a promise to appear; no money is paid at release. Failure to appear may create liability, a new warrant or higher bond.
PR cosign or PR surety A co-signer accepts responsibility for the defendant’s appearance. The co-signer may become liable when the defendant fails to appear.
Cash or cash-surety The full bond amount is paid using an accepted payment method. The money may be returned after the case unless it is forfeited or applied by court order.
Surety bond A licensed bail agent posts the required amount. The agent’s fee is generally nonrefundable and collateral may be required.
Property bond Qualifying real estate is pledged through the Court Clerk. This uncommon bond is handled by the court rather than the jail desk.
No bond or zero bond A judge or the agency responsible for the hold must act first. A cash payment cannot produce release until the restriction changes.

What must—and must not—be paid for release

Only the bond amount is required

Booking fees, bond fees and unrelated debts cannot be treated as a condition of release on a money bond.

Separate charges may remain as debt

The jail lists a $10 bond fee and a $30 booking fee, but those amounts do not have to be paid to secure release.

Multiple cases matter

A person may have more than one bond or a no-bond hold. Verify every line in the roster result.

Keep the paperwork

The payer should retain the bond confirmation, court information, case number and payment receipt.

Confirm identity and every case Match the name, date of birth, Global ID and booking number before paying.
Ask about outside holds Another warrant, jurisdiction, sentence or electronic-monitoring requirement may affect release.
Select the payment route Pay at 4000 Justice Way, through Access Corrections, by telephone at 866-345-1884, or through a licensed bond agent when permitted.
Pay the actual bond amount Do not allow unrelated account debt to be represented as a legal release requirement.
Save all confirmation details Record the transaction time, amount, receipt, case number and court date.
Confirm physical release Bond payment begins release processing; it does not mean the person has already left the facility.
Release-delay check: another case, agency hold or court-ordered electronic monitoring may lawfully affect timing. Call Booking before arranging pickup.
Video visitation only

How Douglas County family and friend visits work

Remote-video rate

$0.12 per minute plus applicable taxes, with sessions lasting up to 20 minutes.

On-site cost

Prescheduled video visitation at the Justice Center is currently provided without a visit charge.

No walk-ins

Unscheduled on-site visits are not available. Complete the scheduling process before traveling.

Create your own JailATM account Do not share an account. Account sharing is treated as prohibited third-party communication.
Select the correct inmate Initiate a video or digital-message request for the person shown in the official Douglas County inquiry.
Upload ID and a separate recent photograph The system requests a government-issued ID image and a different current photograph for review.
Wait for approval The facility must review the public-user information before communication is enabled.
Schedule the visit Choose remote video or the no-cost on-site Video Visitation Center option when availability appears.
Let the inmate confirm availability Jail staff cannot promise when an inmate will have kiosk or tablet access. Court, housing, behavior and facility operations affect availability.

Video-visit rules

Remote visit includes the registered user and inmate only
On-site visit allows the registered user and one additional person
Adults must provide approved government photo ID
Minors need an approved parent or guardian
Appropriate clothing and shoes are required
No account sharing or three-way communication

Choose the correct phone-funding method

Deposit into inmate trust

Access Corrections funds may be used by the inmate for calls or other permitted purchases.

Fund your telephone number

Recorded-call warning: ordinary calls and digital messages are monitored and treated as public records. Avoid discussing case strategy, witnesses, prohibited contact or confidential personal information.
Three-way communication: third-party or three-way activity can result in permanent blocking. Numbers blocked for facilitating that conduct are not eligible for unblocking.

Copy the Global ID from the live roster Do not guess the number or replace it with a booking number.
Write every address line clearly Include the Sheriff’s Office, inmate name, Global ID and Jonesboro post-office box.
Expect digital delivery The mail vendor scans letters, photographs, drawings and other accepted visual material for viewing through jail kiosks or tablets.

Douglas County states that it has zero tolerance for custodial sexual abuse and harassment. A person with information may contact the Sheriff at 303-660-7500 and request a police report or email SODetentionsSupervisors@dcsheriff.net.

Immediate danger: an inmate should notify detention staff immediately. A person outside the facility facing a life-threatening emergency should call 911 rather than waiting for email review.

How inmate property can be released

Confirm that the item is releasable Evidence and property controlled by another agency follow separate legal procedures.
Ask the inmate to submit a written request The inmate must authorize an emergency property release.
Wait for pickup instructions The inmate is responsible for communicating when and where the approved recipient should report.
Bring photo identification The person collecting approved property should carry valid picture ID.
Confirm before traveling Call the Detention Division at 303-660-7559 to avoid an unnecessary trip.

Reintegration help before release

Douglas County’s reintegration network connects eligible inmates with re-entry planning, behavioral-health services, workforce assistance and Human Services. Support may include treatment continuity, identification needs, employment preparation, transportation planning and connections to community resources.

Local release challenge: Castle Rock has limited public transportation and no general shelter system. Release planning may need to address transportation to regional transit, treatment, sober housing or required appointments.
