Kern County Inmate Roster: Verify Custody, Facility, Bail and Court Status
The Kern County jail roster can show a booking number, date of birth, housing facility, arrest details, charges, bail and hearing information. The difficult part is knowing whether that information is current and what a family member should do next.
This guide explains the live lookup, result fields, active facilities, visiting schedules, digital-mail rules, money deposits, commissary, telephone accounts, property release, bail processing, court verification and record-correction options without sending readers through a maze of unexplained links.
Name, date of birth and seven-digit SO booking number.

August 5, 2026 using agency sources.
What should you do first?
Search the last name first. Add the first name only when the roster returns too many possible matches.
Use the seven-digit number to confirm the correct person, facility and offense page. Save it for mail, money, visits and calls.
Copy the court case number and search the Superior Court portal. The Sheriff warns that partner-system data may not be fully current.

How to read a Kern County inmate result
| Field | What it means | What it does not prove | Practical next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking number | The seven-digit SO identifier connected with the inmate’s Kern County record. | It does not explain the final court outcome. | Use it for mail, deposits, visits and facility questions. |
| ID process complete | Whether the jail’s identity-processing field is marked complete. | It does not eliminate all possible clerical or same-name errors. | Still compare the birth date and official case identifiers. |
| Holding | A KCSO system field connected with the person’s custody record. | A false entry does not guarantee immediate release. | Review every offense and outside-agency hold. |
| Jail | The facility where the inmate is presently listed. | Housing assignments can change after classification or transfer. | Confirm the facility before visiting or requesting property. |
| Total bail amount | The combined bail displayed for the inmate record. | Payment will cause release when another no-bail case or hold exists. | Open each booking and verify every bail source. |
| Release date | The release information presently displayed by KCSO. | A future or pending release guarantees a pickup time. | Wait for confirmation that the person has physically exited. |
| Court case number | The identifier used by Kern County Superior Court. | The short roster description is the official court disposition. | Use the case number in the court portal. |
| Crime case number | A law-enforcement or agency case reference connected with the incident. | It may not be the same as the court case number. | Use it when requesting an agency report. |
| Booking type | A category such as open charges, warrant, remand or probation violation. | Every type has the same release process. | Check whether court action is required. |
| Offense type | A code such as felony, misdemeanor, infraction or court-related entry. | The charge will remain unchanged. | Verify the filed charge with the court. |
| Bail source | The source or rule associated with the displayed bail entry. | Other cases are releasable. | Read all booking entries before arranging payment. |
| Hearing details | The date, time, court location and department transmitted to the roster. | The hearing has not been changed or continued. | Recheck the Superior Court portal before traveling. |
