Clark County Inmate Lookup, Las Vegas City Jail, Bail, Visits and Release Help

“Las Vegas County Jail” is a common search phrase, but there is no Las Vegas County. Las Vegas is in Clark County, and the correct inmate database depends on where the arrest happened and which court has jurisdiction.

This guide first routes you to the right jail, then explains the entire next-step process: identity verification, booking status, bail, visitation, calls, deposits, commissary, mail, court records, property, release, ADA help, grievances and sexual-safety reporting.

Identity and legal-status warning: Match more than a name. Use the birth date, inmate ID, booking date or court case number. A booking charge is an allegation and does not establish guilt. Housing, bail and release information can change after court or transfer.

Solve the main Las Vegas search problem

Choose the right Las Vegas-area detention system first

Four detention systems serve Las Vegas and nearby cities. Searching only Clark County can fail even when the person is in custody a few miles away.

Which Las Vegas jail should you search?
Likely jurisdictionFacility and phoneSearch clueFinal action
Clark County / many LVMPD arrests Clark County Detention Center
702-671-3900

Local routing tip: Ask which police agency made the arrest and where the alleged incident occurred. “Las Vegas” in a mailing address does not always mean the City of Las Vegas had jurisdiction.

Inmate IDPermanent or booking-related identifier used by that detention system.A Clark County ID works at the city jail.Copy the number exactly before deposits, mail or calls.
Booking dateThe date the person entered that facility’s booking process. It is always the incident date.Use it to separate a current booking from an older case.
ChargeThe alleged offense recorded at booking. The charge proves guilt or will remain unchanged.Use the court case to check later filings and outcomes.
BailAn amount or status associated with a particular court matter.Paying one bail clears every case or hold.Verify all case numbers and holds before paying.

Arrest happened very recentlyIdentification, fingerprints, medical screening, paperwork and property inventory may still be underway. Retry later and call the arresting jurisdiction.
You searched Clark County onlyRun the City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson searches based on the arrest location.
Name spelling may differUse fewer fields, try a maiden or former surname, remove punctuation, check hyphens and test another first-name form.

Protective custody may applyClark County does not display people in protective custody. Phone staff may also be limited in what they can disclose.

Booked as John or Jane DoeCall Clark County with legal identification. Bail cannot be posted until the fingerprint-identification process is completed.

What happens during booking in Las Vegas?

The exact facility differs, but the practical sequence explains why an online result can be delayed.

Identity and paperwork

Staff verify identity, review arrest paperwork and assign an inmate or booking number.

Property and funds

Personal property and money are inventoried. Keep any receipt or property information supplied at booking.

Medical screening

The arrestee receives an intake health screen and may be routed for medical or mental-health attention.

Fingerprints and records

Fingerprint confirmation is especially important for a John or Jane Doe booking.

Court and bail status

The person remains pending arraignment, bail, bond, own-recognizance release, sentencing or another legal action.

Housing or transfer

Classification, court jurisdiction and sentence length affect housing and possible transfer.

Clark County sentence-transfer rule: The official inmate handbook states that a sentence of one year or less may be served at CCDC/North Valley; a sentence longer than one year generally leads to Nevada Department of Corrections transfer after local charges are resolved.

Las Vegas local tips that prevent expensive mistakes

Ask for the arresting agency

This single detail usually identifies which of the four detention searches to use.

Do not mix IDs

Clark County uses an inmate ID; the city mail process uses a booking number.

Check the court before bail

Justice, District and Municipal Court instruments use different payees and rules.

Use 4 × 6 photos

This is the safest size under Clark County’s current overlapping photo instructions.

Save deposit receipts

Account staff need the receipt number, date and amount to research a missing deposit.

Expect visit cancellation

Counts, meals, court, housing and lockdown can override the online appointment.

Never drive during video visits

CCDC immediately terminates remote visits when the visitor operates a vehicle.

Do not send cash by mail

Clark County recommends against mailing cash; use a verified deposit method.

Recheck release, do not guess

Neither bail payment nor a projected status guarantees that the person is outside.
