When beds are limited, the jail uses an objective risk assessment. Adults with lower risk scores, stronger community ties and lower public-safety risk may be considered first.
Some arrestees who meet court criteria may be released without posting money. Violent crimes and domestic-assault crimes are not eligible under the county’s description.
A person may be released after the court-required security is posted, provided no other charge, warrant, hold or release condition prevents it.
Failure to appear
When a released defendant misses court, an additional failure-to-appear charge may be filed and the court may issue a warrant. Confirm the appearance date, address and courtroom before the person leaves custody.

Oregon uses the term “security” for the amount paid to obtain release. Washington County says the security shown on its custody list is the amount that must be paid.

What may enter the visiting area?
Small pocket items such as a wallet, coins, keys or photographs may be allowed if they create no security risk. Do not bring a cellphone, two-way device, purse, briefcase, fanny pack, food, drink, tobacco, lighter, matches, sharp object, pen, pencil or pocketknife. Limited baby-care items may be permitted, but not a stroller or carrier.

EHD is an offender-funded alternative for qualifying low-risk adults serving Washington County sanctions. Participants use GPS monitoring and a mandatory alcohol breathalyzer and may work, attend school or treatment under an approved schedule.
